GAPMaps is a platform that hosts information on geogenic contamination of groundwater by arsenic and fluoride. It provides the possibility to share data, as well as case studies and experience from the field, interact with other users and produce probabilistic maps for any area on the globe. The site has two main sections. The Geopedia, with all kinds of information on the topic can be accessed through the Documentation link on the front page or the top bar (red frames in Figure 1). The site where you can make your own models and produce maps can be accessed via Maps & Tools (blue frames in Figure 1).
The Help Wiki provides instructions for the Maps & Tools section.

Viewing available geospatial information
All publicly available maps and data can be viewed and printed without registering on the site. Clicking on will lead you to all available layers, clicking on will prepare a print out of the map area you are currently viewing.
GAP Database
Here all available GAP Layers (categorized based on geology, climate, soil, etc) are listed as depicted in Figure 2. There are 3 data types, "coverage", "polaygon" and "point". To add a layer to the map, double click on the layer name. To see the layer Information (source and description), press next to the layer.

Map Layers Panel
The Map Layers panel lists all layers that have been added to the map previously. By right-clicking on the layers you can rearrange layers, remove layers and zoom to the extent of a certain layer (Figure 3)

Print Map
The User selects the scale, resolution, layout and title of the figure of figure
Step 2: Developing models
The main features of the GAP Map are indicated in Figure 1. To be able to upload your own data and set up models you will need to Register or Login (1).
In case you require any help on the site you can always click Help in the top bar which will direct you to the Help page where all parts of the site are explained.
When you click on the Toolbar (3), the different features of the site appear (see inset in Figure 1). The different sections are explained in detail on the following sites: Public Layers, Private Layers (or My layers), Statistical Analysis, Manage Communities, Manage your Account, Print Map.
The box Map Layers (4) will always show you all layers you have currently selected. You can change opacity and view the legend here. Layers (5) provides you an overview of all available layers.
In the lower right corner (6) you find the zoom function as well as the Info Cursor which lets you identify the data of a certain pixel.
Clicking anywhere on the page will always direct you to the corresponding Help site.
Register
You can add a new account with your email address. Make sure to read the 'Legal notice and disclaimer' before you click on Register.
Private Data
The window My Layers shows all layers uploaded by the user. Additionally it includes functions to add, remove, share, visualize and manipulate the symbology of layers.
Add Layer (upload layer)
Provides functions (tools) for uploading spatial layers (data). Click here to get to the site describing all necessary details.
Remove Layer
To remove a layer, select it in the table and click Remove.
Provides tools to share/un-share a layer publicly and/or with an individual user or a community. Click here to get to the site describing all necessary details.
Visualize Layer
To visualize a layer (add layer to map) either double click on the layer name in the table, or select layer in the table and click Visualize.
Layer Symbology (style)
Provides functions (tools) for changing the layer symbology. Click here to get to the site describing all necessary details.
Statistical Analysis
The Statistical Analysis section provides tools and functions for developing statistical models and probability maps. Click here for detailed information.
Community Data
The Community window lists all communities of which the user is a member. The layers are categorized by community names. Clicking Create will open a window where you can initiate a new community. Selecting one community and clicking Remove will remove the community. This is only possible if you have administrator rights. You can see the details on user rights by clicking Details and if you have administrator rights change details by clicking Edit. When you click Layers a separate window will open that lists all communities you are part of and the respective layers that are accesible to this community. You can such a layer to the map by double clicking on the layer name.
